PORTO ALEGRE (AFP) – Nigeria,
with captain Joseph Yobo earning his 100th cap, and Argentina were unchanged
for their closing Group F clash in Porto Alegre on Wednesday.
However MESSI (Argentina) scored two
goals at the 3′ and 45 while Nigeria hit the net through Musa at the 4′ all in
the first half.
MUSA 47′ again hit the net to
equalise for the Super Eagles but ROJO 50′ hit the Nigerian net to
increase Argentina’s goals to three.
Coach Stephen Keshi remained
faithful to the side that saw off Bosnia-Hercegovina 1-0 last time out, and his
opposite number Alejandro Sabella stuck with the starting XI that saw off
dogged Iran by the same scoreline.
Marcos Rojo of Argentina goes for a
header against Emmanuel Emenike of Nigeria during the 2014 FIFA World Cup
Brazil Group F match between Nigeria and Argentina at Estadio Beira-Rio on June
25, 2014 in Porto Alegre, Brazil. (FIFA)
Nigeria will go through as
runners-up with a draw against already qualified Argentina, irrespective of how
Iran fare against eliminated Bosnia in Group F’s other game.
