22 die in two separate Boko Haram attacks in Borno
Also two suicide bombers
suspected to be member of dreaded Boko Haram sect in a golf saloon Volkswagen
car laden with Improvised Explosive Device, IEDs rammed into a security
checkpoints in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno state killing 5 members
of vigilante youth popularly known as civilian JTF, while the two suicide
bombers also lost their lives with many of the vigilante youth and passersby

Brazil seal World Cup semi-final spot, Neymar carried off.
ORTALEZA (AFP) – David Silva’s
screaming free kick gave Brazil a 2-1 win over Colombia on Friday to seal a
World Cup semi-final place but the favourites saw Neymar stretchered off and
captain Thiago Silva suspended for the next clash.
Silva bundled over a Neymar corner
kick in the seventh minute to put his country ahead.
But he earned his second yellow card
of the tournament in the second half for barging into Colombia goalkeeper David
Ospina and will misss the semi-final against Germany next Tuesday.
Luiz stepped up to smash an
unstoppable 30 metre free kick past Ospina in the 78th minute. But Neymar was
carried off in agony late in the game after a rough challenge from Colombia

Adamawa Chief Judge names 7-man impeachment panel for Gov Nyako, Deputy
The Adamawa State Chief Judge
yesterday named the seven- man impeachment panel against Governor Murtala Nyako
and his Deputy, James Bala Ngilari.
They include Mrs Buba
Kaigam-Chairman; Mrs Laraba Hassan-deputy; Saadu Hassan, Gapsiso Eseon, Joshua
Abuh, Njida Kito and Eseon Binano.
Announcing the names, the state
Chief Registrar of the High Courts, Abubakar Bayola said the committee would be
inaugurated at a later date.

Cossy Orjiakor, who has been having problems with some of the tenants living in
her property in Ilasa area of Lagos State, has stated why she is having
problems with some of them. Cossy said many of the tenants are owing her rents
running into millions.

“ Can you Imagine, I am supposed to
be collecting N2.6M annually from my house, but up till now the tenants have
not paid up to one hundred thousand naira. They complain they don’t have money
but you see them using their generators every day and night. Is it not money
they use to buy fuel for the generators?” she queried.
Cossy raised alarmed some weeks ago
that one of the tenants, who she alleged is a member of Black Axe
Confraternity, has threatened to deal with her if she doesn’t withdraw the quit
notice she served him months ago.
“This dude threatens me. His rent is
overdue, but he doesn’t want to move. I was slapped by his group member some
days ago. But I can’t be intimidated. I can’t run from my home because he is in
Black Axe Confraternity. Almost all the young boys here have been intimidated
to join this group,” she recently tweeted.

DOCTORS’ STRIKE: We’re dying, patients cry out
Three days into the ongoing strike by public sector doctors, patients abandoned in hospitals nationwide, yesterday, cried out that they were dying slowly, and prayed for God’s intervention to settle the rift between the government and the striking doctors.
While Governor Babatunde Fashola of
Lagos State appealed to the doctors to stop using strike as a means of fighting
for their demands in the interest of innocent Nigerians, the doctors on their
part accussed government of playing hide-and-seek with them.
Meanwhile, the House of
Representatives has mandated its Committee on Health to urgently engage the
Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, and Ministry of Health with a view to

Police Debunks Rumor Of Bomb Discovery In Abia
The Abia Police Command has debunked media reports of the discovery of bombs allegedly planted at Ohafia by suspected herdsmen, describing the report as false and magnified rumour.

REVELATION: Lessons From the Ekiti Election
On 21 June 2013, voters in Ekiti State trooped out in the midst of
tight security to vote in an election that turned out to be an upset. In
that election, the incumbent Governor Kayode Fayemi failed to secure a
mandate for a second term. His opponent, Ayodele Fayose, won the
election in all local government areas of the state. Mr Fayose was the
former Governor of Ekiti who was impeached from office in very
controversial circumstances midway into his tenure and had been under a
protracted investigation and prosecution by the Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission (EFCC) since then.
In an interesting show of sportsmanship and maturity, Dr Kayode Fayemi accepted defeat and congratulated Fayose on the latter’s success at the polls. This show of gallantry in defeat has tended to support the view that the elections were free, fair and peaceful. It should be recalled that Fayemi’s ascension into the office of governor of Ekiti was based on series of court rulings over the contested election in Ekiti State in 2007. Ousted RTEAN leader plans to set Ekiti on fire – Adebayo
Aderiye Adebayo (alias Ojugo) is the Caretaker Committee chairman of
the Ekiti State chapter of the Road Transport Employers’ Association of

Suspended Deputy Speaker Of Edo Impeached!
It would be recalled that the on June 9 the Deputy Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Mr. Festus Ebea, along with three other members Friday Ogieriakhi (Orhionmwon South) Jude Ise-Idehen (Ikpoba-Okha) and Patrick Osayimwen (Oredo East) of the house were suspended for alleged misconduct which in turn reportedly led to a crisis.
Prior to his suspension, the suspended lawmakers had decamped from the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party.
The impeachment of the deputy speaker was, however carried out by 15 lawmakers belonging to the APC who sat for plenary, but was signed by 16 lawmakers at the Old Assembly Complex inside the Edo State Government House as a result of renovations currently going on at the premises of the Edo State House of Assembly.

The party said his response failed to wash off the thick mud he splashed on himself when he returned to his vomit and made himself a tool, used for criticising the opposition, Vanguard reports.
