Nigeria’s First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, has enjoined Muslim women in Africa to spread the culture of peace and harmony in their communities as the Ramadan commences.
“Demonstrate submission to the Almighty by upholding an important pillar of Islam through the observance of fasting. They should also engage in spiritual introspection and rededicate themselves to God,” Jonathan, who is also the President, African First Ladies Peace Mission said.
According to her, there is the need for African women to inculcate tolerance, peace and humility in their children and wards, noting that these virtues were important values that should be embraced by Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
She further urged them to intensify prayers to change the hearts of those perpetrating violence and urged all Nigerians to shun acts of hate, mistrust and instability.
